The Spartan saddles have been a great addition to my bikes and the Serfas performance saddle line. With saddles being the most personal touch-point on any bike, many factors play into their comfort for all. I can honestly say that this saddle is definitely comfortable. Having tried 145mm saddles in the past, the 155mm definitely suits my body better. The saddle feels comfortable in aggressive postures, but it’s just as comfortable in more slightly-upright positions as well. The cutout base along the middle allows for riding on a more aggressive position without any additional pressure and discomfort. This allows you to maintain that position for a longer period of time. At this price, there is almost no competition from other manufactures in terms of design, construction, and weight. The Spartan saddles are an amazing platform for those who are looking to try out some new saddle options for everything from riding longer distances and challenging yourself some more, to even putting on a number and racing your bike at a local event. The Spartan 2 will benefit any rider, including that rider who is looking to get a saddle that will provide comfort when elbows are tucked in and wheels start spinning faster. TRY THIS ONE OUT. Headline: I Now Own Two! The first Serfas Spartan 2 saddle I bought a few years ago was for my Touring Bike in the 155mm width. With a taller head tube and a more upright riding position, the wider width was the cure for that uncomfortable factory installed saddle. It has just enough support so that super-thick padded cycling shorts weren’t needed. I can ride with lightly padded shorts and still be smiling.
Now, with a relatively new road bike, I find myself coming back to Serfas again – only this time in the narrower 145mm width. With a more aggressive (aerodynamic) riding position, this one “fits the bill”. Less weight is now on the derriere and more on the hands, arms and feet. So…one of these two widths should be right for you too, depending on what type of bike and your own particular riding style. Less I forget, both come with a Waterproof Microfiber cover, should that unexpected shower pop up.
